Servicing and Repairs
In the past cars needed constant tuning because wear and normal use caused settings to change relatively quickly. The points needed to be reset, the engine timing often had to be adjusted depending on the weather, and a whole lot of other things needed to be tuned to keep the car performing as intended. In today’s vehicles however there are a wide range of electronic devices that look after these tuning issues for us. However, what does need to happen is that we keep on top of the things that do need to be done at regular intervals to make sure the vehicle operates as it was intended. Regular oil changes and filter changes (fuel, oil and air), and brakes, tyres and steering components to name a few all need to be checked on a regular basis either by time or klms travelled. If these manufacturers recommendations are followed a few dollars spent now can literally save you thousands later. Whether it’s a minor or major servicing or a repair job, you can trust O’Connell Motors to provide top quality work, professional advice and complete transparency.

Roadworthy Inspections
How to get a Roadworthy Certificate.
1. Book your vehicle in for a Roadworthy inspection (RWC) by giving O'Connell Motors a call on 03 5682 2166, send us an email via our contact page or talk to us in person at 92 Main St Foster.
2. Bring your car in for the inspection (if your vehicle is not currently registered you must have an unregistered vehicle permit issued by Vic Roads), along with your driver’s licence. A licensed vehicle tester will assess your car, the process normally takes 2-3 hours.
3. If the vehicle passes the inspection a Roadworthy Certificate will be issued. If not go to step 4.
4. If vehicle fails the first inspection, we will provide a list of items that will need to be rectified for the certificate to be issued. We will also provide you with a quote of the repair costs required. If the vehicle has rust or damage to structural areas you may be required to have the vehicle assessed by a panel repair shop. The panel repair shop will be required to fill in a Structural Repair Report form found on the Vic Roads website.
5. Repairs are to be carried out and vehicle represented within 14 days. Repairs can be carried out by our fully trained mechanics or a mechanic of your choosing.
6. Make a booking for a re-inspection (fees may apply).
7. If the repairs are satisfactory, a Roadworthy Certificate (valid for 28 days) will be issued.
